'Amazing gesture' - NHS Workers Thank Shorefield for Emergency Accommodation

BASINGSTOKE, U.K. - May 7, 2020 - PRLog -- Front line NHS workers have been taking advantage of complementary accommodation provided by Shorefield Holidays, at its Forest Edge Holiday Park in Dorset during the pandemic.

Marketing Director of Shorefield Holidays Lesley Lawrence says: 'As soon as we became aware of the Covid crisis, offering empty holiday homes seemed the most obvious choice. We had just started trialling contactless check-ins, so we knew we could protect our staff at the same time as protecting these heroes in our community.

"We've been running for 62 years and family values are at the forefront of everything we do.  Community is incredibly important to us and we will always do anything we can to help local people and local charities. Knowing that these workers can look after our loved ones whilst not putting their own at risk is a huge positive in these difficult times."

Claire Cook, one of the NHS workers currently staying at Forest Edge, comments: "We wish to thank Shorefield for this lovely gesture of providing me and my fellow NHS colleagues with somewhere to stay during these difficult times.

"I have worked at Poole hospital for nine years as a Therapy Technician in the Stroke and Early Supported Discharge Team, and would normally provide Rehabilitation to patients in their homes who have just been discharged from hospital.

"At the moment I'm working in the hospital seeing stroke patients for therapy or providing equipment delivery to support discharges.

"Due to my husband having a rare form of non-Hodgkin's lymphoma, this places him in the very high-risk group of people who need 'shielding' from Covid-19.

"Prior to the offer of accommodation, it was difficult for me to do clinical work in the hospital whilst trying to reduce the risks to my husbandt.

"I feel that a great worry has been lifted for a while whilst I am here, as I know my husband is protected and can now fulfil my work duties with the rest of my colleagues."

Another front-line worker, Chloe Frias said: "I'd like to say a huge thank you for providing me with accommodation.   It has meant I can go to work with the peace of mind that I am protecting my family as much as I can.

In addition to this, my stay here has been extremely comfortable and enjoyable. From WiFi to cooking and cleaning facilities and a cosy bed, this home has provided everything I need.  The quiet surroundings have also enabled me to get some much-needed rest between shifts."

Shorefield initially offered five luxury caravans for the frontline workers but there are now 15 being occupied, with the sites whole fleet of 35 now available, should they be required.
