Charity presents check to family of North Carolina highway patrol trooper killed in crash

SMITHFIELD, N.C. - April 30, 2020 - PRLog -- Shield Republic Charities, the charitable arm of American lifestyle brand Shield Republic, announced today that they have raised more than $25K for the family of fallen state trooper Nolan J. Sanders, who served with the North Carolina State Highway Patrol. Trooper Sanders lost his life in the line of duty in a single-vehicle crash on I-795 in Wayne County near Pikeville on Friday, March 27.

This week, the Shield Republic team presented a check for $25,895.79 to his family in Wilson.

Funds were raised through the sale of special apparel paying tribute to the officer's sacrifice. The "Hold the Line" campaign for Trooper Sanders included commemorative t-shirts, long-sleeved shirts, hoodies, ladies' tank tops and decals in Sanders' honor.

Trooper Nolan J. Sanders, age 28, was killed when he lost control of his vehicle and collided with a concrete culvert off I-795 near the U.S. 70 bypass. He had served with the North Carolina State Highway Patrol for five years.

"Our community pulled together to support the family of this young officer, and for that we are extremely thankful," said Charlie Romero, spokesperson for Shield Republic. "We are honored to present this donation to Trooper Sanders' family and hope it brings honor to his memory."

Shield Republic's Hold the Line fundraisers have donated more than $100,000 this year to the families and units of fallen first responders, police officers and K9 police dogs.
