A CNN article reported that children as young as age 5 think their ideal weight is less that their current size. Poor body image has been linked to depression, anxiety, low self-esteem and eating disorders. Young African-American and Latina girls are not immune to body image and eating struggles however, they are frequently omitted from the global conversations on these topics.
