Follow on Google News | Firm Files Dependent Adult Abuse Lawsuit Against St. Bernadine Medical Center in San Bernardino, CARepresenting the family of a deceased man who suffered dependent adult abuse at St. Bernadine Medical Center, the nationally-recognized nursing home abuse lawyers at Garcia & Artigliere have filed a lawsuit against the facility.
By: Garcia & Artigliere When he was first admitted to St. Bernadine Medical Center, the injury victim was a dependent adult as defined by the California Welfare and Institutions Code, because he had recently received extensive treatment for congestive heart failure and atrial fibrillation. During his month at the hospital, the staff had a duty of care to keep the injury victim clean and free from pressure sores, which are considered to be a preventable "never event" by the medical community. Despite this duty, the hospital staff allowed the victim to develop a serious Stage IV pressure sore on his coccyx, which became infected to the bone and required debridement surgery. After receiving this surgery, the victim then hemorrhaged and was returned to surgery, where he required between three and four blood transfusions to survive the ordeal. At this time, the family of the now-deceased victim is seeking maximum compensation to account for their loved one's suffering and extensive medical bills, citing dependent adult abuse as grounds for legal action. If anyone has endured a similar experience at St. Bernadine Medical Center, Garcia & Artigliere invites them to contact the firm.
