Latest Heart Attack Statistics Compiled By Critical Illness Insurance Association

LOS ANGELES - April 24, 2020 - PRLog -- A series of relevant statistics pertaining to heart attack risks has been compiled and posted by the American Association for Critical Illness Insurance (AACII).

"Every 40 seconds one American suffers a heart attack and the good news is that 90 percent will survive," shares Jesse Slome, AACII's director.   Heart attacks are one of the major critical illnesses covered by the insurance policies his organization advocates on behalf of.

Some 805,000 Americans will have a heart attack this year.  "We wanted to compile and put together the most important facts that would educate men and women about the importance of planning," Slome explains.  "Cancer and heart attacks happen every day and catch people completely unprepared.  The majority of individual bankruptcies are due to health related conditions.  And the majority of these individuals had health insurance when the condition first occurred."

According to AACII five million individuals in the U.S. currently have critical illness insurance in place.  "That's only a small proportion of adults between 40 and 55 so we have a lot of work to do," Slome explains.

The Association posted data regarding the likelihood of having a heart attack between ages 45 and 65.  "Men have a greater risk at younger ages," Slome adds.  "Women tend to get heart attacks later in life."   The average age for men having a heart attack is 64.7.  For women, the average age is 72.2.
