Heart of Hospice to host Elvis concert on lawn for residents of The Home Place

JACKSON, Miss. - April 15, 2020 - PRLog -- The COVID-19 outbreak presents unique challenges for senior nursing homes and assisted living facilities across the nation. Many residents are isolated and unable to participate in daily group activities or see their loved ones.

Heart of Hospice is partnering with The Home Place, a personal and independent living facility located in Madison, Mississippi, to host a live, Elvis impersonation on the facility's lawn on Thursday, April 16th at 10 am.

Ben Hawthorne, Director of Business Development for Heart of Hospice will perform as Elvis.

Hawthorne shares: "I've been performing as Elvis for Assisted Living Facilities for nearly ten years. It began accidentally, when I dressed up and participated in a nursing home talent show. The residents loved it so much they continued asking me to perform, and before long, I was performing for facilities across the area. I hope this brings a little bit of joy to residents during this difficult time."

Residents will be able to open their windows and watch the concert from the comfort and safety of their room. At intermission, the concert will move to the other side of the building to ensure all residents can enjoy. Residents who do not have the opportunity to participate will be able access a video recording of the concert the next day.

Lucille Nichols, Executive Director of The Home Place, adds: We are striving to keep the residents' lives as normal as possible throughout COVID-19. We love and appreciate everything that Heart of Hospice is doing to help make that happen."
