Free Webinar Series Helps SC Workers

COLUMBIA, S.C. - April 15, 2020 - PRLog -- Since femme x COLUMBIA launched free webinars offering resume and interview guidance, unemployment information, and work-from-home tips, it has been overwhelmed by the response from the Columbia community. "Every day we learn of another area where workers are significantly impacted and we're thankful we can provide this service and get information to the community quickly," stated Nell Fuller, Partner and Co-Founder of femme x COLUMBIA. "When we launched the femme CULTIVATE series three weeks ago, we knew we were bringing valuable information to help workers survive this pandemic and grow throughout the process. We continue to add topics as we recognize the need for them. We realize that Columbia needs this information now, today, so our goal is to put the sessions together quickly with the appropriate experts in a comfortable, casual yet professional setting."

femme x COLUMBIA has conducted webinars focused on improving resumes, perfecting the interview, and work-from-home tips. Deputy Director of the City of Columbia Economic Development Kay Hampton served as a panelist in Monday night's session on working from home. "This session acknowledges the significant adjustments that come with working from home, especially during this time of social distancing and home schooling," stated Hampton. "We are all in this together and we can continue to learn from one another and adjust as our environment requires."

Webinars are Mondays at 7PM and free to attend. Next Monday's webinar is "We Are In This Together: Unemployment 101." Attorneys Samantha Albrecht and Elizabeth Millender of Cromer Babbs Porter & Hicks law firm will inform participants about SC's unemployment laws, criteria and filing processes and pandemic-related benefits and exceptions.

"This series is incredibly valuable," commented Debi Schadel, Partner at Flock and Rally. Schadel attended Monday's session and was impressed by the quality of the program. "The information is critical at this time of uncertainty. Our community is coming together and supporting one another unlike anything we've seen before at a time when we need it the most."

femme x COLUMBIA also identified a need for financial information within the community and is responding with a financial webinar series. The first session in this series is Thursday, April 16, 1-2 PM. "It is critical for women and people of color to have equitable information about how to protect, preserve, and scale business considering COVID-19 and the upcoming recession," stated Stephanie Isaacs, Partner and Co-Founder of femme x COLUMBIA. "Our financial experts will discuss alternatives that exist for small businesses, non-profits, and entrepreneurs: modification programs, lender relationships, and coverage from regulators. A significant amount of time will be spent reviewing SBA programs, how they work, and where to start."
