My New Red Shoes receives much needed donation from the Swenson Foundation

REDWOOD CITY, Calif. - April 10, 2020 - PRLog -- My New Red Shoes (MNRS), a nonprofit working to improve the quality of life and well-being of children and youth experiencing economic hardship, announced the organization has received a donation from the Swenson Foundation. The Swenson Foundation is a privately-operated foundation whose resources and energies are focused on serving youth in low-income, underserved, and at-risk populations.

"The Swenson Foundation was created to invest in local youth and ensure all children can secure the tools they need to succeed," said Lisa Swenson, Swenson Foundation president. "We are happy to support My New Red Shoes in their unfading commitment and determination to provide support to vulnerable children and families whenever they need it."

This funding will help to ensure that MNRS is able to deliver our COVID-19 services uninterrupted during this challenging time. These services include making and distributing PPE masks and shoes to healthcare workers and providing new shoes, clothes, and other needed items to children and families most impacted by the pandemic.

"It was fantastic news to find out the Swenson Foundation is supporting us with a donation," said MNRS Executive Director Minh Ngo. "We are grateful for their support. While schools may be closed, the basic apparel and footwear needs of school-aged children in our community remains. We are committed to meeting the urgent needs of these children, as well as our first responders, as we all deal with the hardships presented by COVID-19."

My New Red Shoes has provided new shoes and clothing to over 90,000 children and youth experiencing economic hardship. Through collaboration with other child-serving agencies, MNRS' programs help to provide a more normalized experience to children and youth by helping to address their basic needs.
