The charity has raised over $77,000 in Philadelphia and nearly $225,000 nationally with new chapters starting in New York City, Boston, Concord, Baltimore, Miami, Los Angeles, Raleigh/Durham and in Maine.
Started by six friends, Fuel The Fight has been called the "perfect double play" as every dollar donated supports two groups that have been impacted by the novel coronavirus. Funds are first distributed to local restaurants that have been shuttered due to stay at home ordinances. The restaurants then use the donations to create meals which are delivered to healthcare workers on the frontlines of the COVID-19 fight. The process helps keeps local workers employed, beloved local restaurants in business, and, most importantly, keeps the workers who are saving lives from having another worry in their life. They also recently partnered with Frontline Foods to start accepting tax-exempt corporate donations through their 501(c)3. In the Philadelphia area every $500 - $1,000 donated feeds 50 – 100 hospital workers and there are currently over a dozen local hospitals in the program including: Temple University, CHOP, HUP, Pennsylvania, Pennsylvania Presbyterian, Jefferson, Bryn Mawr, Einstein, Lankenau, Christiana, Chestnut Hill, Cooper, and area testing sites.
