LOS ANGELES - April 2, 2020 - PRLog -- It was stunningly mind boggling. That was the sight of a lone President Trump sitting behind his White House desk on Sunday March 29 telling the nation that he had decided to extend the COVID-19 safety measure until April 30, 2020. That is that Americans stay 6 feet apart from each other. It was a stunning pronouncement because just a couple weeks earlier Trump was knee deep in denial about the threat of COVID and what it would take to stop the looming health catastrophe.

In COVID Politics: Trump's Deadly Game, noted political analyst Earl Ofari Hutchinson presents a biting assessment of President Trump's tortured response to the COVID threat. He tells why even in the face of a monumental, unprecedented health threat, the never-ending quest for political one-upmanship didn't stop. The consequences of that political gamesmanship impacted the lives of millions. Hutchinson presents a scathing indictment of Trump's political gamesmanship and the deadly consequences that gamesmanship has and will continue to have for all.

Hutchinson notes, "The brute reality was that COVID-19 came at the very moment that Trump had just gloated that he had amassed a king's ransom in campaign cash for his reelection bid. He had happily filled the tweet airwaves with tweet after tweet about the alleged incompetence and ineptitude of the top Democratic presidential contenders, Bernie Sanders and Joe Biden. He punctuated the attack on them with his usual heathy dose of name calling. He had whipped the Republican National Committee in line behind his reelection bid. He had chased away a handful of minor GOP Republican challengers; that is those who made some noise about challenging him in a handful of Republican state primaries.  He was in full early season campaign attack mode. "

Hutchinson observes that, "COVID-19 spoiled Trump's rosy little political scenario. What to do? Deny, deny, deny, ignore, ignore, ignore; That's the standard play book of some politicians who think covering their eyes and ears to a disaster will make it magically go away--at least that's the hope."

Hutchinson assesses whether COVID will help or hurt his reelection bid. Says Hutchinson much will depend on whether the public remembers Trump as a hopeless bungler or a tough take charge, war time president type. COVID Politics: Trump's Deadly Game bitingly assesses the dangerous consequences of the nation's top political leader playing politics with a colossal disaster.
