WASHINGTON - April 1, 2020 - PRLog -- The Association of Farmworker Opportunity Programs' (AFOP) Children in the Fields Campaign (CIFC) is proud to announce that it is now accepting submissions for the 2020 Migrant & Seasonal Farmworker Children Essay & Art Contest. The theme for this year's contest is Seasons of Transformation and Triumph. Contest flyer and guidelines can be found in both English and Spanish on the AFOP website: www.afop.org/cif.

The Migrant and Seasonal Farmworker Children Essay and Art Contest is an opportunity for farmworker children all over the country to showcase their stories before a national audience.  In staging this contest, AFOP seeks to empower kids by amplifying their voices and to show America, through the children's work, the difficult realities that farmworker families face each and every day.  AFOP's hope is that this attention will spur action to provide better educational support for farmworker children.

Winners are selected by a diverse panel of national community partners. AFOP will announce the winners on Children in the Fields' Facebook Live on August 20th, 2020, and then the winners' names and their entries will be published in AFOP's Washington Newsline and national conference program.  AFOP may also compile and present some of the best art to members of Congress.  All contact information of participants will be kept confidential.

In addition to providing these children with small scholarships to help cover their educational expenses, all first prize winners will be entered into a raffle to win a tablet.  Winners will be notified via telephone or by mail on or after August 20, 2020. For more information or to review the contest guidelines, please contact Melanie Forti at 202.384.1771 or forti@afop.org.
