Follow on Google News | Student Brings Prom Night Back to Life as Virtual EventCOVID-19 has caused many schools to cancel prom and graduations, but Atlanta teen Serenity Cadogan is hosting a prom night to remember for students across the nation
By: Serentees Enlisting the help of teen DJs, social media influencers, and celebrities to serve as the "Prom Committee," #VIPromNite aims to uplift the spirits of students around the country who are currently practicing social distancing. With the increasing number of cases of COVID-19 in our nation, many proms and even graduations are canceled. "Although I am only in the 7th grade, I run a chapter of a national nonprofit that provides free prom dresses to students experiencing financial difficulties. When they closed schools, the first thing I thought about was prom. I have friends and family in high school and I feel bad for them. I just want to do something to help other students during this time. I know that #VIPromNite will not replace their actual Prom, but I hope it helps them make memories. Plus, March 31st is National Prom Day," exclaims the young business owner. To participate in the event, students are encouraged to dress in formal attire, take pictures around their house, and follow the hashtag #VIPromNite. Atlanta DJ Lovelee and DJ Marvel will provide the soundtrack for the night on their Instagram accounts from 7pm to 9pm. Young comedian, TJ Boyce III, will do a short set for a little dance break and our "Fairy Glam Mother" Denise Caldwell will provide giveaways throughout the evening.
