Dogwood Ranch Pet Resort Announces COVID-19 Supportive Efforts, Offering Free Daycare for Fir

Following 'Stay at Home' previsions, local pet resort offers First Responders free daycare during statewide mandate.

SALINAS, Calif. - March 26, 2020 - PRLog -- In an effort to support their local community and aiding in combating the spread of COVID-19, Dogwood Ranch Pet Resort has announced they will be offering free pet daycare for all first responders living within 50 miles of the resort.

California Governor Gavin Newsom issued a statewide 'Stay at Home' order effective March 19, 2020, at 8:00 p.m. The move is forcing residents to stay at home except for "essential needs," while others working in what are deemed as "essential" occupations are still working with few options regarding day care for their pets.

Pet care has been listed as an essential occupation (https://dhhr.wv.gov/COVID-19/Pages/Governor-Issues-Stay-at-Home-Order.aspx) including:
• First Responders
• Healthcare Workers
• Law Enforcement

The owners of Dogwood Ranch Pet Resort realized that their team could do their part for essential workers by ensuring their pets receive the proper care and support during this global pandemic.

"We're all being impacted, but our free day care services are our way of thanking first responders for their continued support and unwavering dedication during this time," says Stofer, who runs the resort with her team of staff.

She adds that this service will give workers more peace of mind. "They will now have one less thing to worry about, as their pet will be tired and happy from playing all day when they arrive for pickup. First responders are understandably exhausted taking on the new challenges of a worldwide pandemic."

With the long hours expected of many first responders, the long times alone at home for pets have shown to have a negative impact for pets and their families. Studies have shown negative effects on pets who are alone for a long period of time, including increased anxiety, weight and hair loss, rashes, and erratic behavior, among others.

They hope that their effort will be recognized by other pet care facilities worldwide and will help spur similar supportive actions in other communities. For those interested, pre-registration is required prior to dropping off a pet and can be done so on Dogwood Ranch Pet Resort's website: http://www.dogwoodranch.com
