Virus Quarantines Will Unleash Entrepreneurial Zeal, Says Best-Selling Author, Dr. Gary S. Goodman

Goodman invested five years in traditional college teaching the last four of which were while he studied for his PhD and then took a tenure track job.

But he was tired of feeling underpaid.

In his book, How To Create Your Own High Paying Job, Goodman details how he leaped from teaching undergrads to training grateful and generous business folks, elevating his pay by a factor of 1200%.

"The largest business publisher, Prentice-Hall/Simon & Schuster, issued six of my new books within five years, four of which reached best-seller status. I forged partnerships with 35 universities to offer my seminars, a network that stretched from New York to Hawaii."

An ambitious teen, he devised a rare coin brokerage. Starting from scratch, he memorized his pals' collections. Then he became a go-between, keeping for himself the "excess" coins that each transaction spun-off.

One peeved parent, who knew nothing about coin values, beefed him to his dad, who summarily shuttered the start-up.

"That put me in financial lockup until I turned 17, by then a college freshman," Goodman remembers.

"Within a year I found a great sales job that swiftly promoted me into sales management, while I was taking up to 18 units per semester, on campus."

There are other examples of having limits imposed on his pay, which made him seethe, and then boil over with frothy ambitions.

This dynamic is nothing new to immigrants from impoverished or oppressed nations, he says.

Massively, we're facing a similar frustration now, many of us ordered to remain at home because of the virus.

"An upside is our pent-up desire to contribute, to give value and to get value. This will make us unusually productive when we are unleashed, providing we come through this threat, intact."
