MINNEAPOLIS - March 22, 2020 - PRLog -- Photographer, Lena Lakoma, brings cheer and connection to her community with her first series of Doorstep Portraits.
Lena proposed the idea of a free drive-by portrait session through her local community email groups, with the assurance that all social-distancing recommendations would be strictly followed. The responses were immediate, welcoming, and numerous. Over 70 replies in 24 hours.
Keeping a safe distance from her subjects was a top priority, as well as a creative challenge. Armed with her camera and powerful zoom lens, face mask, and a good dose of courage, Lena drove by over thirty addresses in her neighborhood of North Tyrol Hills, Minneapolis on her first day. The sessions were greeted with openness and gratitude, with some neighbors cracking jokes by calling the sessions drive-by shootings.
In exchange for their participation, each household will be emailed high-resolution images for sharing and printing. A bright idea to commemorate community, family, and friendship.
