UltraFlex demonstrates the efficiency of induction brazing for copper, steel and aluminum assemblies

RONKONKOMA, N.Y. - March 20, 2020 - PRLog -- Several tests set up by UltraFlex Power Technologies - a leading manufacturer of digitally-controlled induction heating solutions - have proved the time-efficiency of induction brazing for a variety of pipe and tube assemblies.

The tests had been accomplished per request of a potential customer - a manufacturer operating in the electronics and appliances industry - who was looking to increase the productivity of their operators by using UltraFlex handheld U-braze gun. U-braze is a mobile induction heating solution that can be used as a hand-held unit or can be integrated with a robotic arm for automated production lines. The durable assembly has an easy-hold grip, and a handle at the top of the unit to maximize stability.

The 4 tests included brazing a variety of copper, aluminum and steel tubes and pipes. The brazing process using a hand-held brazing unit required using alloy rings, which were positioned onto the thinner of the pipes to be brazed.

To supply the power of 4 kW required for this brazing process, a 5-15 kW induction heating system from the UltraFlex UltraHeat W series had been used. UltraHeat W are advanced, cost-effective Induction Heating systems utilizing the latest switching power supply technology. They are configured to operate with external Heat Stations allowing output connections to be available from all sides.

It took as little as 9 seconds to accomplish the induction brazing process for each of the test assemblies. The brazing operation had been incredibly simple to accomplish and safe for the operator, and the joints produced were strong and durable.
