Garcia & Artigliere Files Elder Abuse Lawsuit Against Cedars-Sinai Medical Center in Beverly Hills

Recently, the firm filed an elder abuse lawsuit against Cedars-Sinai Medical Center in Beverly Hills, on behalf of a senior client who suffered preventable injuries during her stay – including a medical "never event."

The plaintiff spent 30 days at Cedars-Sinai Medical Center after being admitted for cardiac arrest. According to the lawsuit, the plaintiff experienced multiple mild strokes between April and May 2019 that left her unable to speak or move on her own, rendering her completely dependent on staff for assistance and personal hygiene needs.

When caring for dependent and elderly adults, healthcare providers like Cedars-Sinai Medical Center have a responsibility to ensure that patients are kept clean, safe, and comfortable. Despite this duty of care, however, the staff failed to attend to the plaintiff's most basic needs, resulting in a preventable stage III pressure sore, which is defined as a medical never event by the Centers for Medicaid and Medicare Services (CMS).

Because of this event, the plaintiff experienced significant medical complications as well as individual pain and suffering. Due to a lack of appropriate staffing at the facility, she was also left in unsanitary conditions for long periods of time and forced to endure unnecessary humiliation and emotional trauma.

At this time, the nationwide elder abuse team at Garcia & Artigliere is asking for maximum compensation on behalf of the victim and her family.
