Harking back to one memorable deal with an industrial giant, Goodman's counterpart seemed to be taking an especially long time in formulating his language. Sheepishly, the Senior VP replied, "The middle one." After being caught in his stumbling strategy, the usually steely deal maker abandoned artifice and quickly came to terms with the author.
