WANTAGH, N.Y. - March 11, 2020 - PRLog -- In line with public health officials' recommendations, Pulse Center for Patient Safety Education & Advocacy announces the postponement, until further notice, of its TakeCHARGE for Safer Health Care launch event that was scheduled to take place at Freeport Public Library on Long Island on Saturday, March 14.

According to Pulse President Ilene Corina, "Public health authorities are recommending that all organizations in the area avoid large gatherings until the spread of the novel corona virus has slowed or halted. Out of an abundance of caution, we are therefore postponing the launch event of our TakeCHARGE for Safer Health Care campaign until further notice. We hope to reschedule the event when the current crisis is less severe."

The campaign, which is largely based on social media platforms, will go ahead uninterrupted. The TakeCHARGE Campaign is an ambitious public awareness campaign that has significant potential to improve patient safety by encouraging people to become informed and active participants in their healthcare team with "5 Steps to Safer Health Care."

The TakeCHARGE Campaign kicks-off with Patient Safety Awareness Week (March 8-14 2020) and concludes on International Patient Safety Day (September 2020). Each month from April through August, the campaign will focus on one of the five steps, with a wide array of daily and weekly postings on social media channels to engage individuals, organizations and businesses to complete the step and join the campaign.

Pulse Communications Director David Halperin adds, "We are actively seeking corporate, business and other partners to sponsor and support this campaign, which will help deliver real benefits in terms of fewer work days lost to illness and in many other ways."
