DELRAY BEACH, Fla. - March 10, 2020 - PRLog -- (Delray Beach, FL – March 10, 2020) Susan R. Williamson, Director of the Palm Beach Poetry Festival, and Dr. Blaise Allen, Director of Community Outreach, today invited local poets and poetry fans to four public events during March and April (National Poetry Month):

Howe to Notice

Facilitated by Camila Saavedra

Honoring the works of Marie Howe, this workshop will examine poetic techniques that magnify the simple (moments, objects, thoughts) to create a sense of universality in confessional poetry.

+ Facilitator Camila Saavedra is an MFA candidate at Florida International University. She enjoys all genres but is partial to poetry and creative nonfiction. She writes about trauma in its many forms. Her poem, The first time I realized I might not be alive, appears in This Thing We Call Poetry: An Anthology of Poems by Young Adults with Cancer.

Improv and Performance for Poets & Writers

Facilitated by Anthony Francis

In this workshop, participants will practice introductory group improvisational acting exercises and play fun games with props to increase creativity, inform their writing about persona and characters, boost self-confidence for public speaking, and improve their performance, No previous acting experience is required.

+ Facilitator Anthony Francis is CEO & Director of Improv U, Inc. and the annual Palm Beach Improv Festival.
