Summerville's Best Orthopaedic and Pain Specialists Winners

SUMMERVILLE, S.C. - March 10, 2020 - PRLog -- Summerville residents have cast their votes, and Lowcountry Orthopaedics & Sports Medicine came away with big wins in the Best of Summerville Reader's Choice Awards! The awards, sponsored by Summerville Journal Scene, covered several categories including healthcare.
Sports Medicine Surgeon Dr. David H. Jaskwhich won the Orthopedic Surgeon category, with Dr. Eric Stem announced as a finalist. Dr. Jaskwhich's specialties include: shoulder and knee reconstructive surgery, sports medicine, hand surgery, and arthroscopic surgery. One knee injury patient states, "He (Dr. Jaskwhich) did surgery on my right knee and is doing one on my left knee. He really cares about his patients and takes the time to discuss the issues with them."
Finalist Dr. Eric Stem, a hip and knee specialist, plays a vital role in bringing orthopedic innovations to the lowcountry. Dr. Stem is trained to use 3D printing, a unique process using CT scan data to design an implant and set of instrumentation that will match precisely to each individual patient's knee.
Dr. Shailesh Patel won the Pain Management Category. Dr. Patel is a fellowship-trained pain management specialist who focuses on conservative treatment options such as spinal injections, physical therapy, and medications to diagnose and treat spinal pain. Dr. Patel states, "As a Pain Management specialist, I aim to use a multi-disciplined, holistic approach to treating pain. My ultimate goal is to effectively manage my patient's pain symptoms to give them some semblance of normalcy, answers, and most importantly, hope."
Lowcountry Orthopaedic's own Savannah Spearman was selected as a Nurse Practitioner Finalist by Summerville readers. Raised in Summerville, Savannah works with the sports medicine specialists to treat athletic injuries of the musculoskeletal system, with special focus on shoulder, elbow and knee injuries.
