PORT WASHINGTON, N.Y. - March 6, 2020 - PRLog -- The students at Vincent Smith School in Port Washington, Long Island, were very excited recently to receive a special visit from News12 Long Island meteorologist Geoff Bansen.
The independent school, whose motto is "We teach differently because every child learns differently," specializes in small classes and differentiated curriculum for 1st-12th grade students with various learning difficulties like Dyslexia or who suffer from school reluctance or AD/HD.
Bansen engaged and fascinated the students with hands-on experiments about cloud-making, sonic booms, and other weather-related phenomena. The students were thrilled to meet the real-life TV weatherman and eagerly interacted with him, asking specific questions and giving enthusiastic responses to his presentation. Head of School John Baldi commented, "The kids were so excited, it might as well have been Beyonce coming."
The visit corresponded to the students' having just concluded the Weather Unit part of their curriculum, and Bansen was duly impressed by their knowledge. "I think I may have had more fun than they did."
The feeling seems to have been mutual. As student Luca Luciano said, "I think he's a really good meteorologist and a nice guy."
