About the Book (Excerpts & Info)
Sir Thomas Cat and his friend are sitting on a bench at Larkspur Landing watching boats cross from San Francisco. They see a group of seals, some of which are nursing their young. Sir Thomas Cat speaks to his friend in Cat and decides to investigate what a seal is eating. His friend warns him in Cat, "Curiosity killed the cat."
Sir Thomas Cat responds, "Satisfaction revived him."
He goes up to the seal who opens her mouth wide and Sir Thomas Cat slides into the sea's stomach. Sir Thomas Cat shouts, "Get me out of here. It stinks and there are half-digested fish swimming around."
His friend pries open the seal's mouth and Sir Thomas Cat emerges. He complains that his friend was cruel in letting him get too close.
They depart. But Sir Thomas Cat refuses to sit on his friend's lap and purr for nearly a month afterward.
