Garcia & Artigliere Files Lawsuit Against Loma Linda University Medical Center – Murrieta Hospital

LONG BEACH, Calif. - Feb. 28, 2020 - PRLog -- The nationally-recognized elder abuse attorneys at Garcia & Artigliere have filed a civil lawsuit against Loma Linda University Medical Center – Murrieta Hospital, on behalf of a man who suffered life-altering injuries when the facility and staff failed to treat his stroke event in a timely manner and left an object behind during surgery. Now the firm has filed a lawsuit against Loma Linda University Medical Center – Murrieta Hospital on behalf of an elderly man who did not receive timely medical treatment for a severe, life-altering stroke event, leading him to develop dense right hemiplegia.

In July 2019, the injury victim was admitted to the emergency room at Murrieta Hospital, where he showed clear symptoms of a stroke. The attending physicians failed to properly review the injury victim's scans, however, and did not initiate a necessary transfer to the primary facility owned by Loma Linda University Medical Center. 18 hours later, a neurosurgical consult revealed that the patient needed to be airlifted via helicopter to Loma Linda University Medical Center in Loma Linda.

In addition to this preventable delay in treatment, the hospital staff also left a foreign object behind in the victim during surgery. Medical professionals have a clear obligation to avoid "never events" such as retention of a foreign body. Due to negligence, under-staffing, and elder abuse at Loma Linda University Medical Center – Murrieta Hospital, the injury victim and his wife have suffered tremendous losses.
