Follow on Google News |  Garcia & Artigliere Files Lawsuit Against Community Convalescent Center of MontclairGarcia & Artigliere – a nationally-recognized elder abuse law firm with offices across the country – is representing the family of a woman who died as a result of negligence and elder abuse at Community Convalescent Center of Montclair. According to the lawsuit, which was filed with the Superior Court of the State of California in Los Angeles County, the deceased was admitted to the facility in November 2018 and immediately suffered from rapid weight loss during the months that followed, losing almost 60 pounds in total. In June 2019, she also sustained an unreported bruise on her head after a staff member dropped a glass vase on her head. Completely dependent on others for her activities of daily living (ADLs), the deceased faced an increased risk of falling injuries. Despite the heightened risk, the facility staff failed to provide the deceased with adequate care and supervision to avoid falling accidents, resulting in a series of falls and near-misses. Finally, on January 28th, 2020, the deceased fell out of her chair and was discovered unresponsive in her room. After being rushed to Pomona Valley Hospital Medical Center, the deceased passed away due to catastrophic injuries. When skilled nursing facilities fail to provide appropriate care for elderly residents and cause serious injuries, they can be held accountable through a civil lawsuit.
