Colorado Film Soul Custody Breaking Traditional Hollywood Barriers

LOS ANGELES - Feb. 24, 2020 - PRLog -- Soul Custody at the 2020 San Diego Black Film Festival in February won Best Feature Film, Best Cutting-Edge Film with its leading female Asha Bee winning Best Actress and Clifton Powell winning Best Supporting Actor adding to many of Powell's awards including his nomination for the Screen Actors Guild (SAG) Award and Image Award (NAACP) nominations for the motion picture "RAY" with Jamie Fox. The film also received nomination for Best Director.

"Soul Custody opens the doors of diversity and inclusion, that Hollywood has claimed it wants but rarely achieves. This film is breaking molds on racial social norms." said Wendy Benge, one of the film's executive producers whose works include; Lee Daniel's The Butler and Life of Crime, starring Jennifer Aniston and Yasiin Bey (Mos Def) .

The film directed and written by V. Vansay Zanubon, founder of Vzion Entertainment stated, "I wanted to make a film about unconditional human connection without perpetuating race and cultural stereotyping. A film that touches on our everyday human and family issues sending a positive message further depicting unconditional fatherhood that is rarely showcased by Hollywood films."

The movie is set in an upscale mountain town, Woodland Park, Colorado, and follows the lives of the main character's dealing with tragedy, mystery and intrigue. Throughout the film's storyline, the backdrop is full of stunning views and recognizable locations in the magnificent Teller County area.

Executive Producer Clay Walker of Keep It Moving Productions detailed, "What sets this independent film apart from high-budget films is that Soul Custody has kept its artistic integrity while still achieving high production value with talented (SAG-AFTRA) actors. This was achieved despite its ultra-low production budget.

Presently the film, its director, producers and talent were selected from thousands of films to make its International Premiere debut at the Toronto Black Film Festival in Canada along side such legendary director Spike Lee who is premiering his remastered "Bamboozled" starring Jada Pinkett Smith, Yasiin Bey (Mos Def) and Damon Wayans in mid-February, and is attracting the attention of a number of film festivals across the Globe, including a European Premiere in Cannes, France at the Festival International du Film PanAfricain de Cannes this coming April.

Director V. Vansay Zanubon, Executive Producer Clay S. Walker and Producer Wendy Benge are teaming up again in late spring to produce a modern day horror thriller inspired by a true event that deal with the American history of the Chinese railroad workers in the late 1800s in Colorado.
