The program includes AeroMACS Demo with visit to the airside and system, presentations, worldwide cases and successful implementations. The purpose of the workshop is to foster collaboration between key players in the aviation industries. AeroMACS is a standardized C-Band airport surface communications system based on the IEEE 802.16 standard for mobile broadband data operating in the protected aviation spectrum band from 5091 MHz to 5150 MHz. It is the wireless solution for the next generation standard in Air Traffic Management (ATM) selected by EUROCONTROL and the Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) and ratified by the International Civil Aviation Organization (ICAO) for the provision of dedicated aeronautical communication services for safety and regularity of flight on the airport surface globally. "ANA has been continuously investing to maintain and improve the quality of its services, and AeroMACS provides the safety and security needed at the airport surface," stated Jose Rafael Charrua, Head of Electronics, IT and Automation at ANA. "I am delighted to be part of the Workshop and share the improvements that the AeroMACS System brought to Lisbon Airport." ANA is responsible for managing 10 airports in mainland Portugal (Lisbon, Porto, Faro and Beja), in the Azores (Ponta Delgada, Horta, Santa Maria and Flores) and in Madeira (Madeira e Porto Santo). ANA is integrated within VINCI Airports network, which is responsible for managing a wide network of airports worldwide, assuring the development and commercial utilisation of 45 airports - 12 in France, 10 in Portugal, 3 in Cambodia, 1 in Chile, 3 in Japan, 6 in the Dominican Republic and 1 in Brazil, 1 in Costa Rica, 1 in Sweden, 1 in Northern Ireland and 5 in United States of America.
