HAVRE DE GRACE, Md. - Feb. 19, 2020 - PRLog -- Ashley Addiction Treatment (Ashley), one of the world's most recognizable and respected names in the substance use disorder treatment industry, today announced it has donated nearly 400 books to the Phoenix Foundation of Maryland. The contribution will be used to build a library for the Phoenix Recovery Academy, the state's only recovery high school for adolescents affected by alcoholism and drug addiction, that will open this fall in Frederick, Md.

"Our purpose at Ashley is to act as a beacon of hope for those who need it most and provide opportunities for people to live the life they want," said David Nassef, president and CEO of Ashley. "We're excited to collaborate with the Phoenix Foundation on this exciting new initiative to open a recovery school for youth—a need for many families throughout the state."

Recent studies suggest (https://recoveryschools.org/wp-content/uploads/2016/02/Data-Collection-Strategies-Measurements-Tools-1.pdf) that the most significant triggers for relapse in adolescents are related to attending school. Recovery high schools are secondary schools dedicated to helping reduce stress in teens who struggle with substance use disorder or dependency by providing specialized treatment and support while earning a secondary school diploma.

"By partnering with such a trusted and highly-respected treatment center like Ashley who shares our vision of providing people and families with as many opportunities as possible to succeed, we will be better equipped to meet the needs of our youth and improve outcomes," said Ranya Baker, board of directors of Phoenix Foundation of Maryland. "We are overwhelmed and incredibly grateful for the Ashley team's donation and support. All who participated have afforded our students a future love of literature; one of the many simple, yet vital, experiences the Academy can now offer our communities thanks to the generosity of Ashley."

In addition to book contributions, Ashley is a proud supporter of the Phoenix Foundation of Maryland's Partners of Hope campaign and sponsor of the organization's charity golf tournament, which raises funds to go towards helping future students enrolled at the school.

"We are constantly amazed by the amount of community support we have received for the Phoenix Recovery Academy including the generous donations from the Ashley team," said Sean Nicholson, director of development at Phoenix Foundation of Maryland. "We are beyond thrilled to have Ashley join our cause and for their contribution that will lay the foundation for the school's library to help our students further their education."
