British Airways take home top prize at the Social Media Superstar Awards 2020

LOS ANGELES - Feb. 17, 2020 - PRLog -- Oscar winners Gary Oldman, Olivia Colman CBE, late pop icon David Bowie, Heavyweight Boxing Champion Anthony Joshua MBE, helped British Airways win a major honor in Hollywood.

British Airways picked up the prestigious Campaign of The Year at the Social Media Superstar Awards (SMSA) in Los Angeles. The star-studded advert line up, which also featured actors Riz Ahmed, Paloma Faith and chef Matilda Ramsay, also won the Travel Award at the SMSA 2020. The airline's astonishing promotion and advertising campaign took home two of the biggest new prizes in the world of e-commerce, social and digital landscapes.

Emmy winner and Good Morning Britain TV host, Ross King MBE, handed the awards to BA's Neil Thwaites - Vice President of Sales, Western United States during the event at the Four Seasons Hotel Los Angeles at Beverly Hills.

"British Airways' campaign epitomizes everything that is excellent in the digital marketing and advertising space. It was phenomenally simple, touching and presented crystal clear messaging", said SMSA co-founder Birgit C. Muller, "Their message was simple and beautifully executed: 'We love you Britain – You make us who we are'.

A love letter to Britain, the promo showed cabin crew, pilots and celebrity passengers marveling at the British identity, values and characteristics – including drinking tea, politeness, style and modesty....and of course having a sprinkling of David Bowie, Gary and Olivia too was the icing on the cake. The mixture of those traits that make Britain special along with some of their beloved stars will make this an iconic commercial long beyond 2019."

The Social Media Superstar Awards recognizes businesses, brands and individuals, whose creative work has made a difference and set a pioneering level of expertise in their field.

Founded and run by BCM Services Group Corp in collaboration with The British-American Business Council LA (BABC LA), the awards' focuses on brands whose work has impacted the digital and social media space on both sides of the Atlantic.

Special awards were handed to Ballantines PR chief, Sarah Robarts (Pioneer Award), Financial Application Strategists, Investcloud (Rising Star), and BABC LA Transatlantic Business Achievement Award for AEG Rugby Chief, Dan Lyle.

Brands that took home the awards included Amazon's Mrs. Maisel Day (Entertainment), Sir Ridley Scott's Hennessy X.O (Lifestyle), British Airways (Travel), Nike's Dream Crazier (Sports), Ryan Reynolds' Samsung QLED TV (Technology), Compass (International Real Estate), Calvin Klein (Fashion) and Land Rover (Motor Car).
