Bernie Sanders 4:20 Legalization Pledge

RIVERSIDE, Calif. - Feb. 17, 2020 - PRLog -- Senator Bernie Sanders ups the ante on his previous pledge to legalize cannabis in his first hundred days in office, saying that he will now do so by executive order at 4:20 pm on his first day. The bold promise may have been intended to make Sanders stand out in a crowded pro-legalization candidate pool, however regulatory barriers and conflicting state laws could make such swift action impossible.

In Virginia, a cannabis decriminalization bill advances in the state Senate, passing the Judiciary Committee in an 11 to 2 vote. At the same time, the House approves the formation of a joint subcommittee to analyze and make recommendations for regulating an adult-use marijuana market. While lawmakers focus on the modest decriminalization measure, many see the move as the first step toward broader cannabis reform in the state.

Researchers in Italy discover a new cannabinoid and corresponding cannabidiol during a 3-year EU-funded hemp project. According to preliminary testing, the cannabinoid, THCP, could be 30 times more potent than THC, and may explain unexpected properties in certain types of cannabis.
