A Decade of Dreams with Caesars Foundation and Second Wind Dreams

LAS VEGAS - Feb. 13, 2020 - PRLog -- For the past decade, Caesars Foundation has partnered with Second Wind Dreams®, an internationally known nonprofit dedicated to changing the perception of aging through the fulfillment of dreams and the offering of educational programs including its sensitivity training, the Virtual Dementia Tour®.

The partnership between Caesars Foundation and Second Wind Dreams has focused on enhancing the quality of life for elders in the Las Vegas, Atlantic City, and New Orleans regions. Among Caesars Foundation's philanthropic priorities is helping older individuals live longer, healthier and more fulfilling lives.  Through its partnership with Second Wind Dreams®, the nonprofit has provided assistance via various measures, including educational programs, volunteer activities and everyday acts of kindness that carry a lasting impact.

Grant funding from Caesars Foundation helps fulfill elders' dreams ranging from supporting a cup /secholder for one's wheelchair to a ride in a hot air balloon for the very first time.  Funding also provides elders with the opportunity to participate in special events like Mardi Gras celebrations, Senior Slot Tournaments, and Mother's Day Teas.  Frequently, financial assistance is also needed to provide non-medical transportation giving those living in elder care communities a chance to have a Day Out.

In addition to funding, Caesars Foundation provides volunteer engagement from Caesars Entertainment employees called HEROs. Their volunteerism and grant contributions provide additional support for the Second Wind Dreams Gifts of Light program. Gifts of Light provides Holiday gifts, cards and visits to nursing home residents who have little or no family.

Since the partnership began in 2009, Second Wind Dreams® has received more than $1.3 million in grant contributions from Caesars Foundation, which has supported over 6,000 elder dreams and dream events.  Both organizations look forward to continuing these efforts in 2020.

Second Wind Dreams CEO, Gwenyth Johnson, states, "I am very proud that our two organizations have partnered for so many years. Caesars Foundation and HERO volunteers have such a commitment to the wellbeing of the elders in their communities.  It is inspiring.  We look forward to touching the lives of many more individuals this year through dreams and Gifts of Light."

"This partnership has been a true win-win throughout the past ten years," adds Gwen Migita, Global Head of Social Impact, Equity & Sustainability at Caesars Entertainment. "Our employees have genuinely enjoyed making such an impact on our elder community and we have seen firsthand the overwhelming amount of good that has come from our relationship with Second Wind Dreams."
