State of Yucatan Takes Home Two Travvys

NEW YORK - Feb. 13, 2020 - PRLog -- The State of Yucatan started 2019 as one of the top "Cities in  Mexico" as per Travel + Leisure and continued to be celebrated by the readers of Conde Nast Traveler as the top "Best Small City in the World". Today, the destination finishes a year of awards and accolades as Mexico's top winner at the prestigious Travvy Awards.

The State of Yucatan's Ministry of Tourism, which is headed by Minister of Tourism Michelle Fridman Hirsch, was the winner of Best Tourism Board – Mexico and Best Wedding Destination – Mexico.

The Travvy Awards, known as the Academy Awards of the travel industry, recognize the highest standards of excellence in the travel industry and honor travel companies, travel products, travel agencies, and destinations for their outstanding achievements.

Travel suppliers, destinations, and individuals from all over the world are eligible to vote for the nominees. Last year, nearly 40,000 travel professionals voted on their favorites which determined the 2020 Travvy Awards winners. Mexico was awarded in several of the most competitive international award categories where the entire global industry and its tourism destinations are considered.

The State of Yucatan Ministry of Tourism is enjoying its run as one of Mexico's top destinations. According to the Mexico's Minsitry of Touurism' DATATUR, the state had its most successful year to date in 2019, welcoming 3.2 million-plus visitors, including 2.8 million air passengers (up 13.8%) and 400,000-plus cruise passengers at the Port of Progreso. The State of Yucatan registered an increase of 15% in overnight visitor arrivals, exceeding the 2 million benchmark for the first time.

The boom places Yucatán among the top three destinations for growth nationwide, generating hotels and resorts economic activity of more than $8,264,900 pesos (approx. US$438,570.). Living up to the hype of Mexico's It destination.
