LaughFest Community Blood Drive Feb. 24 in Grand Rapids, Lowell

Versiti Blood Center of Michigan, Gilda's House Grand Rapids partner to encourage life-saving blood donations

GRAND RAPIDS, Mich. - Feb. 10, 2020 - PRLog -- Every two seconds, someone needs blood.

Cancer patients depend on blood through transfusions to fight their disease. Hospital patients rely on blood as they undergo surgeries. Trauma victims must receive life-saving blood to save their lives.

Versiti Blood Center of Michigan is again partnering with Gilda's House Grand Rapids to encourage blood donations at the LaughFest Community Blood Drive on Feb. 24 at two locations:

GRAND RAPIDS: 7 a.m.-6 p.m., Versiti Blood Center of Michigan, Grand Rapids Donor Center, 1036 Fuller Ave. NE
LOWELL: 2-7 p.m., King Memorial Youth Center, Lowell Area Donor Site, 225 S. Hudson St.

All donors will be entered into a drawing for a chance to win tickets to a LaughFest show, while supplies last. One winner will be drawn randomly every hour of the blood drive.

Versiti will donate $5 to Gilda's Club High Five Campaign in honor of each blood donor. High Five supports programs that Gilda's Club provides to cancer patients and their loved ones at no charge.

Donating blood takes about an hour. Anyone age 17 or older in good health who meets eligibility requirements is encouraged to give. Parental consent is required for donors age 16 to give. Donors should bring a photo ID that includes their birth date.

Appointments are encouraged but walk-ins are welcome. To schedule an appointment to donate blood, call 1-866-642-5663 or visit Versiti online at http://www.versiti.org/Michigan.
