Thiel College to recognize The Pittsburgh Promise at Founders' Day celebration

Thiel College will present The Pittsburgh Promise with the Barbara and Louis Thiel Distinguished Service Award as part of its 2020 Founders' Day activities.

GREENVILLE, Pa. - Feb. 5, 2020 - PRLog -- The Pittsburgh Promise executive director Saleem Ghubril will join Thiel College for the College's annual Founders' Day celebration on Feb. 6, 2020.

The Pittsburgh Promise is an acclaimed scholarship organization. Thiel College (https://www.thiel.edu/) is a leading independent 4-year college in northwest Pa.

On behalf of The Pittsburgh Promise, Ghubril will accept the Barbara and Louis Thiel Distinguished Service Award. This award is presented annually to those demonstrating exemplary character, continuity of leadership, and long-term service to Greenville and the surrounding community. The recipients must show a commitment to the common good above private interests. The award is named after Louis and Barbara Thiel, whose generosity made possible the founding of Thiel College in 1866. The Pittsburgh Promise funds scholarships for post-secondary access for students who graduate from City of Pittsburgh high schools.

A number of The Pittsburgh Promise scholarship recipients have attended and graduated from Thiel.
