In honor of Black History Month, Southern University Museum of Art Shreveport will host "Life, Landscape & Abstracts" featuring the work of North Louisiana artist, Frank Kelley, Jr.

SHREVEPORT, La. - Jan. 30, 2020 - PRLog -- SUMAS will host the exhibit at the opening reception on Thursday, February 6, 2020, from 5:30 pm - 7:30 pm.

The Northside Elementary African Drumline and Dance Troupe will provide special entertainment for this event.

"SUMAS is honored to feature the collection of artist Frank Kelley, Jr. during Black History Month as his artwork provides vivid expressions of the African American experience while masterfully telling stories that resonate with the human experience," said Angelique Feaster Evans, Museum Coordinator.

The exhibit will be on display through February 29, 2020. This event is free and open to the public.

About Frank Kelley, Jr.

Born and raised in Northeast Louisiana, Frank has created art centered around rural Louisiana, celebrated jazz, Southern life, along with Landscapes, Abstracts and Figurative.

From celebrated jazz figures, expressive Southern life and moving portraiture, Frank creates art that takes its viewer on a journey. His expressive work takes the form of current life, yesteryears, as well as evoking the emotions of sorrow and happiness, struggle, hope, and togetherness and love. Private and corporate collectors around the world have acquired his investment quality work.

Kelley has unforgettable works of art in the homes of famous entertainers, museums, corporations, political figures and private collections across the world. His works have also been included in galleries in New York, Pennsylvania, South Carolina, Florida, Detroit, Switzerland and more.

Kelley also seeks to educate youth about art, the importance of art and share its positive impact through his nonprofit, Youth Educational Arts Initiative.
