ST AUGUSTINE, Fla. - Jan. 24, 2020 - PRLog -- Art Censorship by a government is nothing new. The recent uproar over the National Archives censorship of 2017 Women's March photo is a familiar page from history. Images were distorted which were considered politically incorrect.

The painting, L' Art Degenere d'phare (Lighthouse Degenerate Art) honors the contemporary artists who works were banned by the Nazis of World War II and displayed in the Degenerate Art Exhibit. The works of art were formerly exhibited in German Museums.

The painting, L' Art Degenere d'phare of the Crooked River Lighthouse, is part of the juried "Cutting Edge" exhibit at the St. Augustine Art Association. It is on display through February 2.

Lighthouse artist, Elaine Marie, paints through the lens of history and each lighthouse's environment. The cubist rendition of the Crooked River Lighthouse challenges traditional perceptions of lighthouses.

The Crooked River Lighthouse overlooks the Gulf of Mexico and is situated next to Camp Jordan Museum. Amphibious soldiers of World War II were trained at Camp Jordan.
