"We are going to win New Jersey in 2020," said Lawrence Hamm, Bernie Sander's NJ campaign chair who is currently running for the NJ Democratic Senate nomination against Cory Booker. Barry Brendel, the Sanders state's co-chair has said, "I've waited 30 years for this campaign, a campaign that hits the pressing issues before us, and a campaign that is 100% focused on the needs of everyday people." Patricia Campos Medina, fierce justice warrior, immigrant rights advocate, and NJ co-chair to the Sanders campaign said this, "It's all about the consistency of his policies. I am with Bernie."
Voters in NJ are really feeling The Bern across the state. David McMillan, a registered democrat in Bergen County said, "Before Bernie I didn't care much about politics. I just voted down the line, but now I'm paying attention to elections and really listening to what people running for office say and stand for." Another registered voter, who asked not to be named, from Lacey Township said, "I am planning to switch parties to be able to vote for Sanders in the primary. He's the only candidate on either side who will fight for everyone." Bernie Sanders has also inspired a number of people who were never in politics before to run for state and federal offices.
New Jersey's Primary day is June 2nd, 2020. Polls will be open from 6 am to 8 pm. To be eligible to vote in the primary, you will have to have lived in your current county at least 30 days before the election. Also, you must be registered to vote as a democrat 21 days before June 2nd. If you need to change your party affiliation, it must be done 55 days before the primary. The deadline to do that is April 10th, 2020. If you are unaffiliated you may declare yourself as a Democrat on election day.
