-- Today Dr. Jeri Janowsky, the Executive Director of Saturday Academy, announced that she will retire after leading Saturday Academy for 9 years. "Jeri set a high bar for the science and technology education that children need, and that Saturday Academy provides," said Eileen Boerger, Saturday Academy Board Chair. During her tenure, Saturday Academy established a stable financial plan and reserve, a transition to a new database and web presence that will permit growth in future years and built a new partnership with the University of Portland. She has led the organization's expansion of service to marginalized youth so that all children have opportunities for hands-on, science and technology education and career exploration led by expert instructors and mentors. Dr. Janowsky's background as a neuroscientist and researcher of learning and memory informed her passion for education. Learning is driven by curiosity and when children are challenged. "This was a good time to pass the torch as we have a terrific leadership team, a robust board, wonderful programs for curious kids, and a strategic plan that will give Saturday Academy clear direction for many years. This is a great time for Saturday Academy to attract a new creative leader to take the helm" said Dr. Janowsky.
Saturday Academy will launch a search immediately and will utilize the search firm Page Two Partners. Inquiries about the position can be sent to SAsearch@pagetwopartners.com. Dr. Janowsky will remain with the organization through the successful transition to a new leader.
