Statesman to Recognize the Heart of Health Care in Central Texas: Nurses
By: The Austin American-Statesman
Selfless, humble, passionate — Austin nurses are incredible and deserve recognition. For the fourth year in a row, the Austin American-Statesman is asking the public and health professionals to nominate exceptional professionals who have positively affected their lives and profession. The nomination period is open Jan. 20-March 2 at recognizingnurses.com. The voting period will take place March 17-31. The winners will be honored at the Recognizing Nurses Gala, presented by Roger Beasley Mazda, at the JW Marriott Austin on May 7.
"With great compassion and expertise, Austin-area nurses care for so many of us when we're at our most vulnerable. We're grateful for their care, and we look forward to honoring them again in 2020," said Statesman publisher Patrick Dorsey. "We're also grateful to our presenting sponsor, Roger Beasley Mazda, and our other sponsors, Ascension Seton, WellMed, Baylor Scott & White Health, and St. David's HeathCare, who help make this very special event for very special professionals possible."
This is the event's fourth year. There are 15 categories of nurses, ranging from school, nonprofit and lab to pediatric, emergency and oncology. After the nomination period ends on March 2, a board of nursing professionals will review the nominations and select the top five nurses in each of the categories. The public will then have an opportunity to read the nomination stories and vote for the top three within each category. The top three nurses will be invited to the 2020 Recognizing Nurses Gala on May 7, where the "Best in Class" (the top nurse within each of the 15 categories) will be announced.
