By: Leonon Media
AMSTERDAM - Jan. 15, 2020 - PRLog -- Leonon Media is running a campaign on Kickstarter to raise funds for their project A Chinese-Dutch life: vertaal mijn verhaal. Good Stories cannot attract readers across cultures without good translations. But translations are seldom fully appreciated. With this project they hope to raise awareness of intercultural translation and spotlight the importance of intercultural understanding. They support translators to bring cultures and people closer together worldwide.

Lenard Wolters, who wants to translate this thriller says that, "A Chinese expat Yue Tao wrote a new book 'Op en haar na' in Chinese and I want to bring this fascinating psychological thriller on the bookshelves of Dutch readers.

What if you could indulge yourself in another culture, while curling up with a blanket on your very own couch? One doesn't necessarily have to travel to learn about culture, right? Even when you're enjoying a hot cup of tea at home, you can enrich yourself with new cultural knowledge. This is exactly what we are trying to achieve! We at Leonon Media dedicate tremendous value to the sharing of cultural knowledge, and we want to facilitate this through literature. Translating Asian literature, to be more specific.

One doesn't necessarily need to hop on a plane to broaden your cultural horizon: you can do it right from your own couch! We want to facilitate the sharing of cultural knowledge through literature. We want to bring different cultures together"

He is torn between relationship-oriented him and self-oriented him. At first he thought his personal conflict was a "clash of civilizations" between China and the West—it is not easy for someone raised in a familistic culture to cope with an individualistic one. Thinking back, He realize he had a dual identity even as a child. There his sense of estrangement began, and it never went away. Through writing he came to realize that the advantage of living far away from home is not the excitement but the distance. Distance from home culture provides the opportunity to digest experience, organize thoughts, and apply imagination. China gives him inspiration; The Netherlands gives him reflection, concentration, application.

With just 16 days left in this campaign, With your donation we can translate his latest Chinese thriller into Dutch and bring it to your bookshelf Allow yourself and others to appreciate this exciting Chinese outlook on Dutch society.
