Arizona's First Women's Pinball State Championship - January 18, 2020

PHOENIX - Jan. 13, 2020 - PRLog -- Women's pinball leagues are popping up all over the world and successfully growing the number of women playing competitive pinball. Arizona's own women's league launched in 2017 with 9 players. Since then, Belles & Chimes Phoenix has increased to 59 women who participated in 2019 events. We are proud to announce the first Arizona Women's Pinball Championship presented by Scottsdale family law firm, Davis Blase Stone and Holder.

The Women's State Championship will take place at Starfighters Arcade in Mesa, AZ on Saturday, January 18 beginning at 10:00 am and will occur in conjunction with the Open State Championship. The Top 16 women based on performance in both open events and women-only tournaments in 2019 will be invited to compete in an intense head-to-head competition to determine Arizona's best female pinball player.

The International Flipper Pinball Association (IFPA) recognized that fewer than 10% of competitive players were female and they began taking steps to grow the female player base by adding the Women's World Championship in 2016 and a separate ranking system for women-only events. These efforts along with women's leagues and tournaments all over the world helped expand female representation to over 14% and growing rapidly. In 2020, the IFPA will take steps to encourage more states to add women's state championships so Arizona is at the forefront as one of the few states holding a championship this year.
