PORT AU PRINCE, Haiti - Jan. 10, 2020 - PRLog -- Victoria Joseph, University of Miami graduate and daughter of accomplished classical violinist Romel Joseph, learned at an early age that a better life starts with just one. She was the first student at The New Victorian School (http://thenewvictorianschool.com/en/home/), a school founded by her father with the mission of blending academic excellence and performing arts. Damaged by a fire on January 12, 2000, the school was rebuilt only to be destroyed again on January 12, 2010, by the devastating Haiti earthquake. Now ten years later, Victoria is launching One Movement for Haiti, a campaign aimed to highlight the resiliency of Haitians and to remind everyone that hope and change can start with just one. The campaign will be promoted on social media and on Victoria's website (http://www.victoriamjoseph.com/).

"Even from his hospital bed after being injured in the Haiti earthquake, my father vowed to never give up, and he went on to rebuild the school again," notes Victoria. Her father passed away in 2015, but Victoria continues with the mission he started. She is currently the co-director of The New Victorian School (http://thenewvictorianschool.com/en/home/)and Executive Director of Friends of Music Education in Haiti (http://fmehaiti.org/en/home/). "I hope to inspire others to see the good that exists in Haiti, the strong foundation we have built through music and education. And yes, we struggle every day, but we remain hopeful," says Victoria. One Movement for Haiticelebrates the power of music and the belief that each one of us can make a difference. "I learned to play the violin at the age of three. I see how music changed my life, and it's changing the lives of our students. Music taught me self-discipline and exposed me to the beauty of performing arts, a beauty that still exists here in Haiti" says Victoria.

As the world reflects on the tenth anniversary of the Haiti earthquake, Victoria invites everyone to join #OneMovementforHaiti by sharing a video or story about the impact music has made in each of our lives.
