MARTHA'S VINEYARD, Mass. - Jan. 9, 2020 - PRLog -- Not since Jaws has the Cape Cod vacation getaway seen as much terror and turmoil.

Residents and vacationers alike have enjoyed the remote tranquility that Martha's Vineyard has to offer. From summer yachting to family oriented tourism, the resort towns of the "Vineyard" are among the most popular destinations in New England. It has also been a popular destination for celebrities and our nation's presidents. Add to that, a recent quiet visitor and former intelligence professional, JT Patten, who staked out the island to research his latest military thriller, PRESIDENTIAL RETREAT.

And so ends the peace and quiet of this tiny Cape Cod island. Patten is known for recently destroying Chicago, New York, and locations abroad in his high octane conspiracy and spy stories.

From Chappaquiddick to Edgartown, JT Patten has captured the island's hotspots and made them part of thriller fabric as his former intelligence protagonist, Sean Havens, heads to the island to stop a presidential assassination. Explosions abound near the Martha's Vineyard Rod & Gun Club, shots are taken from across Ocean Park in Oak Bluffs, and numbers of the area hotels are filled with unsavory characters to deepen the plot.

The Secret Service doesn't leave unscathed either, as Patten's research seems to capture the fissures of the presidential security force with exploited vulnerabilities adding to the tension and seemingly accurate depiction of -- What if?

When asked why Martha's Vineyard, Patten replied, "I'm surprised it hasn't already been done. With past headlines of Secret Service tomfoolery on the island and the awesome task to protect a president, it seemed like the perfect place to create a perfect storm of issues when a retreat literally becomes that. I also think it's interesting to take a place that many people have visited and drop a story in so readers can visualize and relate. Many may remember a particular ice cream shop, restaurant, or hotel. The setting in the book creates nostalgia or a fun diversion on the next trip to hunt down all the sites that were in the adventure. Martha's Vineyard was due for another Hollywood-style drama."

Presidential Retreat releases January 13, 2020, and is currently available for pre-order. https://www.amazon.com/dp/B083N4VVSR/ref=cm_sw_em_r_mt_dp_U_Yu-fEbCGDZYR7
