Charitable foundation raises more than $4,200 for family of slain Alabama sheriff

SMITHFIELD, N.C. - Jan. 9, 2020 - PRLog -- When the team behind American lifestyle brand Shield Republic found out about the shooting of "Big John" Williams, sheriff of Lowndes County, Alabama, they were moved to action.

Through their charitable foundation, Shield Republic Charities, they introduced the "Hold the Line" fundraiser in November, offering for sale special apparel honoring Williams. All apparel, including unisex t-shirts, hoodies, long-sleeved shirts, and ladies' tank tops, was designed, printed, and shipped in the USA, with net profits from the fundraiser to be donated to Williams' family.

The fundraiser brought in a total of $4,233.75 for the Williams family, as announced in a recent blog post at Patriot.ShieldRepublic.com. Funds were presented to the slain sheriff's family today.

"We are so proud of our community for supporting our fundraiser and helping us raise the money for this donation through the sale of Hold the Line merchandise featuring Sheriff Big John Williams," said Charlie Romero, spokesperson for Shield Republic. "Thanks to the generosity of the Shield Republic community, Our Hold the Line fundraisers have allowed us to honor the legacies of our fallen heroes while offering comfort and support to their families."

Sheriff Williams was tragically gunned down blocks from his home on November 23 while trying to disperse a large crowd at a convenience store outside Montgomery, Alabama. The suspect, William Chase Johnson, is in custody and is currently being tried for first degree murder.

Williams had served as the Lowndes County sheriff since 2011.
