Indie Horror Film "The Deacon of Doom" Wraps In Pittsburgh

PITTSBURGH - Jan. 7, 2020 - PRLog -- Many people dream or talk endlessly about "making a movie," but few ever actually do. Pittsburgh-based independent filmmaker Louis Timm has completed not one, but two feature-length films. His most recent project wrapped production in December 2019 and is currently in post-production.

The target release date for the film is Saturday, March 7, 2020. The director expects it to premiere at "The Parkway Theater," located at 644 Broadway Ave, McKees Rocks, PA 15136 (communityreelartscenter.org) in the venue's 45-seat screening room. The entire cast and crew are expected to attend, and the screening is open to the public. Tickets are $5 at the door.

Producer Wilbert Mishkin said, "The amount of blood, sweat and tears that goes into producing a feature-length independent film such as "The Deacon of Doom" is truly staggering. People don't realize how much work it really is. But when you see it up there on the 'big screen,' the feeling of satisfaction makes it all worthwhile."

Since "The Deacon of Doom" is a no-budget film, the director had to rely on the kindness of strangers to bring his vision to life. The actors, all of whom received an IMDB credit and footage for their reels, also supplied their own wardrobe, makeup, and food.

The use of both locations was donated to the project: the South Avenue United Methodist Church at 733 South Ave, Pittsburgh, PA 15221; and a large, unused commercial building owned by Associate Producer Lisa Camerlo, located at 318 5th St, Freeport, PA 16229, and which is currently on the market.

"I think everyone realizes there's no money in this stuff. It's pure art," the director said. "My last film made a whopping twenty four pennies last month on Amazon Prime."

That film, "Dr. Ling's Torture Greenhouse," was subsequently removed by Amazon. "Who knows why," Timm commented. "Nobody really watched it. So I'm sure that had something to do with it. I just hope 'The Deacon of Doom' gets more views than that one and isn't taken down by Amazon. I really need that twenty four cents a month!" The director was presumably only joking.
