Bulletproof: Free Therapy for Those Affected by Gun ViolenceFree Gun Violence Therapy offered in Fort Lauderdale's Sistrunk area
By: Fed Up Movement "People in my community are really suffering," said Attiyya Atkins, founder of Fed Up Movement. "Their mental health is in question as they suddenly have to go on without their sisters, brothers, sons, husbands, wives, aunts, cousins, and friends because of gun violence. They have to pick themselves up and make sure their kids are fed, but don't know where to get help. This free program is to give help to those who need it, but may not even have considered therapy as an option." Joining Fed Up Movement is therapist Mark Lang. With 31 years of experience as a psychotherapist, Lang knows the importance of healing through therapy and leads a support group for those impacted by gun violence. The first session was held at the Northwest Library in Pompano Beach in December, which was attended by community leaders, including Pompano Beach Commissioner Beverly Perkins. At this meeting, the movement gained a new partner in The Lisa Foreman Foundation, a Fort Lauderdale based organization dedicated to ending senseless gun violence. The event is sponsored by A+ Editing & Content Creation, an on-demand ghostwriting and editing agency, which is owned by Atkins.
