BOCA RATON, Fla. - Dec. 19, 2019 - PRLog -- We all love a good New Year resolution and most commonly turn to the traditional commitments of losing weight, working out, organizing the home or office, and so-on. But this new year and new decade truly offers all of us a great opportunity to re-focus on the health of our skin. And there is a good chance that our skin has been neglected during the hectic, stressful holiday season (or potentially even longer). Here are my must-do new year resolutions for your skin:

1.    Cleanse your skin. Do your homework by meeting with a medical esthetician or skin care expert to ensure you are using the right products for your skin type (oily, dry, etc.). Then follow the routine of cleansing with a wash, clarifying with toner, moisturizing with cream. This should be done at night, after your workout, or after a full day out. At Stars Skincare Med Spa, we prefer the Obagi Nu-Derm products (https://www.starsmedspa.com/authorized-retailer/obagi/), that are designed for your specific skin type.

2.    Use sunscreen every day and wear a hat or cover-up. Heading out on an errand? Playing tennis for hours in the sun? Taking a walk with you dog? All of these activities are opportunities to put on your SPF protection and when possible wear a hat. Even mere seconds in the sun (especially in South Florida) can do damage and it's your job to protect it!

3.    Drink more water. Hydrating your skin by drinking more water seems simple, but it's critical! Water delivers nutrients and oxygen to our cells and protects organs and tissues, which keeps our skin feeling refreshed and looking healthy. So, drink eight glasses or more a day to get started…especially post-holiday season, where we may feel extra dehydrated due to travel and celebrations.

4.    Moisturize your skin! A warm shower or face wash strips the skin of oils, which means your face and body are thirsty for replenishment! Be sure to add a face cream and body lotion to your routine immediately, or within ten minutes of turning off the water. We have a selection of at-home medical products, or for a more comprehensive option, the HydraFacial (https://www.starsmedspa.com/authorized-retailer/hydrafaci...) treatment is available, which cleanses, extracts and hydrates all at once!
