INVERNESS, Scotland - Dec. 17, 2019 - PRLog -- Following on from his second foray into crime fiction "The Mass Murders" this third novel by D.R. Bailey continues where "The Deathbed Confession" left off with a no holds barred gritty but nevertheless humorous crime drama set in Ireland. This sequel continues the adventures of fictional Detective Inspector D I Gallway still based in a small town south of Dublin. A gunman is on the loose and Gallway and his team are having a tough job to find him, the gunman appears to be focusing on the church and they are soon in a race against time.

Bailey continues in his underlying vein of humour, but also touches on many different serious issues in and out of the church. Bailey tackles all aspects of sexuality with sensitivity but at the same time without shying away from sexual themes. Bailey takes us on a fast-paced ride with many twists and turns where we wonder if Gallway and his team really can get their man this time. Bailey continues to give us believable everyday characters avoiding the pitfalls of many detective tropes. His novels may at times be graphic, but he weaves in the humour which his readers have grown to love. His skill is to continue to focus on well fleshed out characters in his inimitable style. Once more this is a novel which can appeal to people of all persuasions and engages the reader the whole way through. Bailey's excellent novels continue to grow as his readership and fan base develops. Bailey's novels will appeal in Ireland and beyond.

Reviewers continue to give Bailey's novels a big thumbs up:

A recent 5* review on "The Deathbed Confession"

Book two has not disappointed. Despite its impressive length, the story was devoured in three sittings and with as much joy and enjoyment as the first. The characters continue to pop from the page and despite the gritty themes, there is a warmth and humour that comes from well-conceived characterisation and interaction. Apart from being a very solid second outing for DI Gallway and his rogue's gallery of companions, there is also a lingering pleasure from getting to know the characters you thought you already knew well a lot better. I find the works to be fresh and fast-paced, with a huge dash of human interest. Once again, a triumph in my eyes. Looking forward to the third outing!
