Cavignac & Associates Safety Risk Advisor Chris Malicki Named Safety Professional of the Year

SAN DIEGO - Dec. 16, 2019 - PRLog -- Chris J. Malicki, CHST, OHST, safety risk advisor for Cavignac & Associates (http://www.cavignac.com), has been awarded "Safety Professional of the Year" by the American Society of Safety Professionals (ASSP), San Diego Chapter.

         The award was presented to Malicki at the organization's annual recognition luncheon held December 10^th at Admiral Baker Golf Course.  Only one person is bestowed the prestigious commendation.

         The ASSP Chapter Safety Professional of the Year (SPY) award is an honor acknowledging the dedication and outstanding contributions of a member.  Each year, one member is identified through membership nominations.  The winner is then nominated to represent the San Diego Chapter as the Region I Safety Professional of the Year.

To be eligible, nominees must be a professional member or member in good standing of their Chapter and the Society; not have received this award within the past five years; and be engaged in full-time employment in the profession of protecting people, property, and the environment.

        Malicki joined Cavignac & Associates in mid 2016, bringing 23 years of construction-related safety experience as well as expertise as a general industry workplace safety consultant.  He is charged with evaluating Cavignac & Associates' clients' operations and developing effective risk and safety management programs for each.  His primary focus is on identifying risks to workers and helping management implement corrective action.

         Prior to joining Cavignac & Associates, Malicki served as a safety manager for the SMART Safety Group in San Diego, where he was employed for approximately four years. There he developed, implemented and maintained safety and risk management systems for construction-related organizations and the general business community.  Previous career experience includes having served as a training director for Pacific Safety Center, where he worked for nearly four years.

         His construction industry knowledge stems from having been principal of Southwest Civil Contracting in San Marcos and, before that, director of operations for Merritt Construction, also in San Marcos, where he was employed for four years.  As an "A" licensed general contractor, he oversaw all aspects of workplace safety on projects, including highway and street improvements, site infrastructure, pipeline, sewer, water, storm drain and landfill construction.

         Malicki is certified as an Occupational Safety & Health Administration (OSHA) outreach instructor.  He holds accreditations as a Construction Health and Safety Technician (CHST) and Occupational Health and Safety Technologist (OHST).  He served as president of the American Society of Safety Engineers (ASSE), San Diego Chapter.
