The NPA Announces Keynote Speaker for the 2020 Annual Conference

ROCKVILLE, Md. - Dec. 10, 2019 - PRLog -- The National Postdoctoral Association (NPA) has confirmed Inge Hansen, Ph.D., as keynote speaker at 2020 NPA Annual Conference. The conference will take place March 27 - 29, 2020, at the San Diego Marriott Mission Valley in San Diego, CA.

Inge Hansen, Ph.D., is a clinical psychologist and director of well-being at Stanford University. In spring 2019 she was the inaugural winner of the Christine Griffith Award for Student Well-Being. She is also the co-founder and director of the Weiland Health Initiative, which is dedicated to promoting mental health and wellness across all genders and sexualities. This initiative has generated a variety of innovative clinical and educational programs at Stanford and beyond.

Hansen is also a co-founder of Gender-Inclusive Stanford, a campus-wide initiative dedicated to improving the campus environment for transgender and non-binary students. She has developed several new academic courses in the realm of gender and sexualities, including "Challenging Sex & Gender Dichotomies in Medicine," "Human Sexual Diversity and Health," and "Transgender Studies." She is a popular speaker and consultant on diversity, equity and inclusion topics. Hansen co-organizes and hosts the North America event for World Sexual Health Day, an event that brings together speakers from across the country to provide both education and celebration around sexual health and rights. Her book The Ethical Sellout, co-authored with Lily Zheng, came out this October.

The NPA Annual Conference is the largest national conference and networking event dedicated to the postdoctoral community. Conference attendees - postdoctoral scholars, administrators, faculty, and representatives from professional societies, industry, and corporations - are provided with the opportunity to gather and enhance their professional development and leadership skills. The Annual Conference is coordinated by the NPA Meetings Committee, which assists the staff and the Board of Directors in planning and organizing the conferences. Rajan Chaudhari, Ph.D., and Lisa Mustachio, Ph.D., serve as co-chairs of the Meetings Committee.
